About Mrs. Short

Hello!

My name is Ashley Short I am thrilled to be entering my 10th year as the music teacher here at South Lakewood Elementary and overall, my 14th year teaching. I spent 2 years as an elementary school music teacher in New Berlin, WI and have been with JEFFCO Schools since 2012.

I am originally from Wisconsin, and was fortunate enough to move to Colorado in June 2012 with my Husband Chad, and our black lab Tica.
I have two son's - Camden (6) who is now a 1st grader here at SLE - and Warren (almost 4) and we have since added another pup to our family, Raya!

Music has always been a very important part of my life. I began playing the piano at the age of 4, and I began playing the violin at age 9. My mom is a piano teacher, and my biggest inspiration.

I graduated from Carroll University in Waukesha, WI. During my time at Carroll I majored in Music Education. I received a minor in Spanish, and spent 6 weeks studying abroad in Costa Rica. I also hold a Masters degree from Cardinal Stritch University, based in Milwaukee, WI. My graduate degree is a Masters of Education in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership.  I also hold an endorsement in Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education from Regis University, and have completed many hours of coursework in Gifted Education.

I look forward to another WONDERFUL year of music here at South Lakewood.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments!

Musically Yours,
Mrs. Short
