Attendance
South Lakewood Elementary has a voicemail system to provide a way for parents to notify the office of their student’s absence or tardiness for the day. It is important that the attendance secretary is aware of the days your student will not be attending.
Please call by 8:30 a.m. every day that your student will not attend or will be late for school. It is the priority of South Lakewood Elementary that students are accounted for and safe.
If you know your student will be absent multiple days, please notify the teacher and office. Work directly with the classroom teacher to ensure work is sent home to avoid a gap in learning.
A student leaving school during the day must be picked up and signed out by the parent or person designated by the parent. Children are never sent home during the day unless the staff has contacted the parents first.
No one other than the parent(s), legal guardian or person designated as an emergency contact within Infinite Campus may take a child out of school unless that person has written permission or we contact the parents by phone to give permission. All will be expected to show proof of identification in the form of an ID.
Attendance in Jeffco
The importance of regular, daily school attendance as a basis for academic achievement cannot be overemphasized. Attendance is a shared responsibility of the student, the families and the school.
It is the family’s responsibility to ensure their student attends school and to notify the school when their student is absent for a legitimate reason, such as an illness or family emergency. Each family should also ensure their student’s school has their correct contact information so that the school is able to communicate about any attendance issues that may arise.
