Growing Food and Community

South Lakewood Elementary Community Garden is part of the Denver Urban Garden Network.

We have a variety of in-ground and raised-bed plots for both the school classrooms and the greater south Lakewood community! Our garden currently has a short waitlist for the 2024 season but feel free to reach out to us for plot availability or volunteer opportunities!

With a mission to build community and grow food, we welcome garden novices and green thumbs alike. We don't just grow plants in our garden, we grow community by hosting fun gatherings and educational events. Check out our Events page for more information.

This program offers five themed kits to choose from, and each includes various organic and non-GMO seeds and seedlings, as well as a bilingual Plant Care Guide to help demystify growing!

We're working to make this program accessible to anyone and everyone by:

  • Providing garden kits on a pay-what-you-can basis with a free option, no questions asked
  • Offering 18 pick-up sites across the Denver Metro Area so getting your kit in May is convenient
  • Having bilingual educational resources in English and Spanish
